Why is the Toronto Stock Exchange suddenly worth more than the Dow Jones index?

I mean, for example, you look at the value and the Dow Jones is currently 10,953.65 and the TSE is 12,058.44! Are we doing that much better than the U.S.?

You actually can't compare the indexes...they are figured differently - the Dow only covers 30 stocks while I assume the TSE index covers much more.

Basically, an index gives a long term idea as to how the stocks that make up the index are doing, not what any company or the underlying stocks are worth.
