Sorry Pal,but this is why Canadians get frustrated with how little the Americans know of their northern neighbour.

It's not your fault. The news media never even mentions Canada. Talk of Foreign oil. Canada supplies more oil to the US than any other nation. Period! We are your biggest trading partner. But they never refer to the Toronto Stock Exchange..TSX..the 7th largest exchange in the world...

The contributions Canada has made to international issues is long and too lengthy to get into here....we had the first team of emergency workers to Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans...

The only thing where Canada didn't support the US was on the invasion into Iraq..thank God we didnt.

Oh yes, many times. Remember that in 1979 they assisted some American Hostages to escape from Iran. They are very helpful in Afghanistan and Iraq.

There is a long list.

Yes they have. Canadian troops served during World War I and World War II and there are Canadian troops in Afghanistan.

We provided assistance to New York after 9/11 and Louisiana after Katrina. Snow plows and utility crews to the North East US numerous times after major storms and power failures. Fire crews to fight forest and brush fires in the North West. Major provider of police training in Haiti for several years. Still on-going. Providing knowhow and equipment in Africa so that those people are able to develop their own sources of drinking water. Specially trained crews to help extinguish well fires in Kuwait and Iraq after the first Iraq invasion. Patrolling international shipping lanes off Somalia - ongoing.
All in recent times as well as not so recent times.

There were, and possibly still are Canadian peace keeping forces stationed in Haiti.

In addition to the ones mentioned above, we continue to have troops in Afghanistan, and will continue to do so until 2011. Other examples include having troops in the mid-east during the Suez crisis in 1957 (for which Lester B Pearson won the Nobel Peace Prize), and peacekeepers in Cyprus.

During the militant take-over of the US embassy in Iran the Canadian Embassy smuggled several Americans out of the country.
