How do I buy shares in a company listed on the SSE?

I am from the UK and would like to buy shares in a company which is listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange. How do I go about doing this?

You can't buy shares listed on the SSE unless you deal via a broker authorised to trade in China based in China itself or if there is a secondary listing for the stock you are interested in on another exchange e.g. London or NYSE.

Otherwise the only way to invest is via a fund with Chinese investments.

Find an international broker for the HKSE and see what SSE stocks are also listed on the Hong Kong exchange.

Your best bet is to approach a stockbroker who has offices in Shanghai.
