Which of these are public companies?

Any company listed on any of the world exchanges is considered a public company. Its stock can be bought and sold, and anybody can be a shareholder by purchasing that company's stock. Coca-Cola is publicly owned and is listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and its stock symbol is KO. Poundland is a privately owned company. On Tuesday 4 May 2010, it was announced that Poundland had been sold to US private equity firm Warburg Pincus for £200 million. A private company means that you can only be an investor if you are invited by the owners to purchase stock from them. That is typically extremely rare. I hope this helps!
