Postby luki14 » Tue Jun 26, 2012 11:07 pm

Anyone who cheats by opening up a source of information will have my curse on them. Anyone who can at least answer 8 questions from the questions about world economy section, I'll the person consider well informed. Anyone who can succeed in cracking my first question, I'll the person consider knowledgeable of major corporations. Anyone who can conquer all of the Challenge questions, I will declare using the clarify option on a question to declare extremely knowledgeable.

I made this up to check if the media has succeeded in motivating people to look at the economy more and if people who look at politics are motivated enough to care.

Questions about the world economy:
You have to do these without looking.
1. Name at least 10 components of ^DJI. (No more than two companies per industry allowed. Exceptions: For mining and drug producers you just have to name one)

3. What are the three main European stock market indexes?
4. What is Canada's main stock market index and what is it mainly composed of?
5. What does BRIC stand for?
6. Where is the world's biggest casino? (Don't need too much detail just need the island it's on)
7. Which city in the world is 2nd place in the number of billionaires.
8. Why does Iran and Venezuela wish oil prices to go higher than other OPEC members?
9. Name three countries in the world that have huge raw material producing capabilities with a huge land mass besides the USA.
10. Which country is currently the largest producer of gold in the world? I will not accept outdated answers. Ex Ancient Egypt

Challenge Questions
1. What do the symbols RTP and BHP stand for and what type of companies are they and how big are they in their industry?
2. What does FSLR stand for?
3. Name the top two busiest ports in the world.
4. Which country in the world has the world's most profitable banks
5. What are the Venezuelan (Letters are enough for me) and Saudi Arabian national oil companies?

I'm smart enough to know that this is no intelligence quiz, but simply an economics quiz.

I'm smart enough to know that people aren't producing gold. Mining it maybe, but nobody has found an economical way to create gold from something else.

these really aren't "common knowledge" type of questions... believe it or not... for the most part...

about 99.9 percent of America couldn't answer 50 percent of these...

stockbrokers would fare decently well... but that's because IT'S THEIR JOB AND WHAT THE DO ALL DAY...

most people have non-stock/non-economy related jobs...

I can't answer many of these, and I will match my education against yours any day. These things are not important or essential to the average people, or even above average people as far as I can see. I have traveled in numerous countries and attended 3 Universities, but do not think that I need to know all this junk to be an informed person.
